Dr. Chen is the child of Chinese immigrants, born and raised in Ohio. Attended Case Western Reserve University with a B.A in Chemistry and M.D. and then came to Hawaii for residency in OB/Gyn at Tripler Army Medical Center. Following a tour of duty in Alaska as a general OB/Gyn, he completed a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Barnes Hospital, Washington University in St. Louis, MO and then returned to Hawaii where he worked for 12 years at Tripler Army Medical Center as the Chief of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Director of the Antepartum Diagnostic Center. He joined the Fetal Diagnostic Institute of the Pacific in 2008 after retiring from the U.S. Army. His primary location is the Waikele office. He is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine and is a fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a member of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine, and a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. His professional focus has been in ultrasound and medical informatics.
Dr. Chen is married with four children. His children attend St. John's College, Island Pacific Academy and Honolulu Waldorf School.
